I remember early in EQ history - pre-Kunark era - I was looking for Blackened Iron gear because it was lighter in weight than bronze armor, and I was always finding myself getting encumbered and not being able to loot anymore. I was in the guild Excalibur back then. I was asking for help going to Runnyeye so that we could see if Blackened Iron gear would drop, since I was only in my late 20's in level. I got the help of one druid whose name I can no longer recall...

We met up in Rivervale, since it was nearby, and made our way over. we fought our way over to where the King of the goblins spawned. This is where the trouble began. We took on more goblins than we really should have been able to handle. Goblin after goblin aggroed on us and we held them at bay as long as we could, eventually bringing down the wrath of the king and his guards.

My health kept dropping, but the druid, he kept on healing me, getting most of the hate drawn from me and onto him. He couldn't get any more healing spells off, he kept getting interrupted by those damned goblins. He was almost dead, and I knew that if I didn't find a way to help, we'd both be in deep trouble; how would we get our corpses back?

If he died, that'd be it, but if I died, he could come back in and help me get my stuff back. We were both low on health, and right as he was about to die, I used my Lay on Hands on him, which was enough to completely heal his health. Thanks to that move, we were able to beat back the goblins as he cast damaging spells around rather than worrying about healing.

We killed something like 15 goblins, and 5 elite goblins, and the king.

All I got was a Grotesque Mask, some rusty weapons, some silver pieces, and an unforgettable story.
